We’ll Bring Our Own Seats to the Table - Or We’ll Create Our Own

If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair. - Shirley Chisholm

The truth is that young people are barely getting by.

Young people today face challenges like never before — growing up during a recession, struggling with food insecurity and homelessness, surviving a pandemic, and navigating a world where building wealth is increasingly out of reach, all while uncertainty about the new administration further complicates those challenges.

Today, 70% of young people are barely getting by:

  • The wealth gap is exploding: The average Black or Hispanic household has only 15-20% of the wealth of the average White household.
  • Debts are spiraling out of control: Half of student borrowers still owe $20,000 in student loans.
  • Savings are razor thin: ⅔ do not have enough savings to cover three months of expenses, and 32% do not have an emergency fund.

Our young people are growing up in an era when the promise of the American dream is more out of reach than ever. With a complex financial system to navigate, Millennials have nearly half as much wealth than the prior generation and more outstanding student debt. For too many young people, there are more obstacles standing in the way than opportunities.

We’re working with young people to bring their own seats to the table.

At MyPath, we work with young people to forge a new pathway for a financial future that is full of promise. Our young people are bringing their own seats to the table - and where that isn’t possible, they are creating their own - leveraging their experiences and ideas for change.

At pivotal moments in their lives, we teach, coach, and provide access to financial tools that put their needs and future goals at the center. Together with young people, we’re changing the future for young Americans in unprecedented times.

Our young people are not waiting for permission to thrive — they’re taking charge of their financial futures through financial education, mentorship, and access to opportunities that have historically been out of reach.
